Disney putting blacks in 1950s London

shareThere as very few.London had around 8 million people in the 50s and the estimated black population of all of the UK was 20,000.
I would have no problem with one or two black people but it started to feel like Disney was trying to fill it’s diversity quota, at the expense of historical accuracy.
Well it would not be the first time they do that. Did you not see the latest version of Beauty and the Beast? (With Legendary Actress Emma Watson as the female lead).

And the question of black people in 17th or 18th century France came up in an earlier discussion, and it's plausible enough. France had colonies in the Caribbean at that time and those colonies engaged in the African slave trade, plus France is actually geographically close to Africa, as well as Spain which had a Moorish population. So everyone, do think about the difference between being curious about history when you see an unexpected face, and getting angry because of it.
But yeah, even I have my limits, like the Chinese Kung Fu master in Dark Ages England, in "Arthur: Legend of the Sword". That was just deliberately ridiculous.
Who decides on seeing a movie based on the race of the background actors? That is not the right viewpoint.... you should be interested in the story or and watch it because of that.
shareProbably nobody, but film studio executives seem to believe it makes a difference.
They dont seem to have a very good grasp of why people see movies, but then no mere film enthusiast is going to make it to a high executive position in a major corporation like Disney.
Or the Lilly James vehicle CINDERELLA..(Or the Mary Poppins sequel from December)
