They Really Toned Down the Vulgarity...(SPOILERS)

I love Mr. Show and have all of the entire series on DVD and of course they are also on YouTube. I gotta say one of the biggest changes between that and this Netflix show is that the new show really has toned down the vulgarity of everything. On Mr. Show they would have sketches they were set in sex shops (quarters mostly), involving drug smuggling (shampoo), and undercover sting operations (talk into my giant flower Kevin). With this show they still have funny bits but it is really hardly any of the absurdity that was put into the old show. I still like it though and I also like the cameos from some of the Mr. Show cast members!

Not all of the writers came back, and it was only 4 episodes. I'm sure if they thought of something funny that was vulgar they wouldn't have written it off.

Bob talked somewhere (it might be on the DVD commentaries) about how he thought the swearing was overdone and distracting on Mr Show, so I'm sure the toning down of the swearing was intentional, but only because they felt it was taking away from the comedy.

No that Donald Trump has set the tone, I suspect that there will be even more coarseness and vulgarity in TV shows, reflecting Real Life. Food shows, real estate show and even kids' show will be enlivened. Imagine updates of SESAME STREET and MISTER ROGERS recast in the mold of TWO AND A HALF MEN.
