S3e08 Jumped the Shark with Cringy Singing

It turned into "Glee" in the middle of a tense moment with that Neverending Story song. Screwed up an otherwise good episode. Every current show turns lame eventually.

I remember that stupid song from "The Neverending Story's" credits, and truth be told, I never loved that film much. I watched it a few times as a kid, and realized after a while, I wasn't really enjoying it much and it was weird/sad/creepy. So to hear 80s kids singing it was enough to make everyone in the room groan.

What killed the scene was not the song itself or the disruption, what killed it was the horrible auto tune they used on the voices. Did not feel like the 80's at all. And the girl was annoying.

I thought it was adorable

I haven't gotten to the singing part of the season yet, but so far the show is the best it has ever been. The writing is great and the rhythm of the show has changed to an almost simpson-esque style. So far this season is really fun. Glad I continued to watch it.

This season they definitely did have more fun. The horror elements were still there but without the unrelenting intensity of previous seasons, two especially. I won't get specific since you haven't seen that part yet but the singing arises naturally - there's a choice between belting out a two minute tune and trying to explain everything that's happened in Hawkins to the uninitiated. I thought it was cute, and the absurdity of the situation made me laugh, but clearly not everyone felt that way.

It also got Hopper killed(if indeed he was killed if the end credits are anything to go by) but for all intent and purpose he was killed due to wasting time to sing that song meant the dodgy russian/arnie/terminator had time to find him so he couldn't get out the way of the explosion!

Throwing that Russian enforcer dude into the machine turned out to be a mistake.

What else could Dustin do? Suzie didn't know there was a real emergency. And trying to explain everything to her, just the explanation (never mind getting her to believe it) would take a whole lot longer than the song. If it was today instead of 1985 Dustin would've taken out his phone and just looked up Planck's constant. But ... no smartphone. Gotta make girl happy so girl doesn't hang up on you without providing code.

Yeah that was lame, but it didn't really bother me that much. The season was AWESOME!
