I hope they make the mind flayer the main antagonist of the show

I know they said that they want to make this series 4 or 5 seasons, but I hope they don't end up killing it in the next season because they kind of set it up like he would be the big baddy of season 3. Which would be perfectly fine if they intended on making season 3 the last one. This thing needs to act like the architect of the upside down.
