Most Underrated Character

My vote goes to Karen. Easily the least discussed of the main cast, and the character herself was kept in the dark most of the season. Some of it was her doing, but I found it interesting how all she wanted was for her kids to open to her. I'm interested to see how she deals with Mike and Nancy's respective losses in season 2.

Both Karen and her snoozefest husband were secondary characters, because they were kept out of the loop. Mike and Nancy can't exactly pretend like nothing happened though. Not after government spooks dropped in on them, looking for the girl Karen knows was there. It'll be interesting to see how the parental relationship plays out (and changes) during season 2. They'll know, and maybe even believe, that Mike was hiding a research subject in their basement and the body of Nancy's best friend is in a parallel universe where she was killed by a dimension hopping monster. At least Joyce already knew the truth. As far as neglected characters though, Dustin and Lucas' parents were shown only once at Will's funeral. We know basically nothing about them.

I really like the Karen character, she's kind and obviously runs the family while the dad is oblivious.

Ted is almost comically useless. I wonder if they will have anything more to that in season 2.

Of the main cast I would say Jonathan, he is easily one of the more interesting characters who's not in the spotlight so to speak. He's a loner, an outcast, no real friends, a recluse hiding behind his photography. Despite his bitterness toward life, he truly loves his brother and he is much more a father figure to him than their loser Dad will ever be.

It'll be interesting to see his role in season 2. I imagine he'll be heavily involved in what's going on with Will, but beyond that I'm not sure where things are headed for him.

I can see him joining forces with Nancy again, quite possibly in a more intimate way. For those that ship them, they may get their wish.

It's interesting because it seems like Steve takes an active role in working with the boys. I think Steve may be a casualty this season.

I was actually surprised that Steve made it through last season, even more so that he and Nancy were still a couple. Steve kinda redeemed himself though, especially when he dropped his two obnoxious friends. I wonder if the two of them will play a part in the story this season? I believe at some point that Jonathan and Nancy will become a couple, if that were to happen, Steve may rejoin with his two friends and they might all three be destined to meet the Monster.
