Nancy should have suspected Steve first (Spoiler)

I loved Stranger Things, the writing is excellent, but there are some minor details that should have been addressed. Nancy is searching for her friend Barb, Barb didn't come back to school and Barb's mom didn't see her since the party.
Then Steve and his friends ignore barb at the party , didn't care for her at all and if she was safe or not. She just happens to go missing the day she is with Steve in his bedroom. If I was Nancy I would have believed Steve pre arranged it.
I would logically make him a prime suspect . So her friend is missing and she doesn't suspect Steve or get suspicious of him . Oh, hey lets have to talk to him to help and finds her but not at the same time believe HE ha d anything to do with it.

If Steve had been played by Joe Pesci, ... maybe.

Steve didn't have anything bad to say about Barb in school or at the party. There is little logical validity for him being a suspect in her disappearance.

She would have no reason to suspect him at all. If anything she would suspect his doofus buddies Carol and Tommy (or whatever their names were). Steve was with Nancy the entire night. He may have ignored her, but he wasn't mean to her, so there is was no reason to think he had anything to do with it.
