What was she doing on the street? (Possible spoilers)

This woman was an emotional basket case, immature and incapable of good decision-making. From the very first moment we see her, she's behaving badly, pouting over the (completely unrealistic) partnering with her father in the squad car. He TELLS HER to wait for backup and she charges out after this kid, who she treats as if she knows him--and what was she doing with an unsecured weapon, anyway? It was probably a good thing that she was removed from active duty, since she was just one more bad decision away from executing someone in a fit of pique.

Her bad decisions didn't end there, of course. We see her:

1) Chewing out a kid on a 911 call, resulting in his death
2) Using pills during her shift
3) Drinking to the point of sickness after her shift (After taking painkillers!)
4) Failing to use her leg brace to answer the door
5) Attempting to influence the investigation of her case
6) Throwing away her cane because her feelings were hurt
7) Putting her father's friend's career at risk on at least two occasions
8) Asking another officer to investigate an open case already being investigated
9) Stealing ("recovering") evidence at gunpoint . . .

I gave up on this dog of a movie. She deserved to be arrested and prosecuted for her actions, which were getting people hurt or killed at seemingly every turn.

I had a problem with her partnering with her father, too. but I blame lapd and the writers for that.

I remember her wanting 'more' from her pills and her physical therapist said that she couldn't have anything more because she would be unable to drive and work.

I had a hard time with this movie. I also have a hard time with 911 in general. from being treated similarly to how this child was treated to being PUT ON HOLD, you have to wonder just how many people they have fielding phone calls.

the last time I called 911 it was because a very rude and VERY DRUNK homeless man was harassing people who were trying to climb the stairs to get to a subway train. when he started throwing things at people who WEREN'T giving him cash AND LIFTING UP LADIES' SKIRTS is when I called 911 for police assistance...

so I call and after a few minutes of me describing the man to her and where I am, she basically calls me a racist because the man was black.

he has been there for a while. not every day but when he is there, the spot where he was is his usual spot. I waited 30 minutes. police never showed up.

Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.

Yeah, I agree. There's nothing likable about the character at all. After her father died, I understand that she's grieving. But she was nasty with and disagreeable from the start. So it was really hard to excuse/dismiss her behavior at any point.

And yeah, I'm fairly certain it's against policy to partner up family members because the relationship will be a distraction. Maybe it'll happen in a small/rural department limited in size, but it wouldn't happen in a large one.

I don't trust people who don't like pets and I don't trust people who pets don't like.

Stupid movie.

I'm not understanding how she is responsible, wasn't a child calling saying JH was already dead? So she wouldn't have been able to save the child in the first place. He was already dead!
