Am I the only one a little confused about casting Maddie Ziegler from dance moms in this production? Jaeden Lieberher and Jacob Tremblay are all veteran actors, and I just know maddie from that show!!-- didn't know she was an actress?

According to huffington post, the movie is about a single mom (Watts I'm guessing) and her sons, and one of them is a genius! Colin Trevorrow posted this pic:

Regardless, im sure it will be a great movie but I'm just curious about what other people think!

The script could have been rewritten and her character was added in the new version of the script.

maddie has done a couple of small acting roles on tv shows and in commercials but this is her first film role.

They've had more acting exp than Maddie but I'd hardly call them veterans. Jacob's like 8 or 9 years old!

Maddie Z, her mom, and her little sister are all cast members of the reality show Dance Moms with their instructor Abby Lee Miller. Maddia has also appeared in two music videos by Sia.

Maddie has been in 3 music videos by Sia, target commercials, television show guest spots and according to an interview that aired last night two movies that have not premiered yet.

She has also danced on Ellen, SNL and various music award shows all during Sia performances.

Little kids aren't exactly "veteran actors"....they're still kids. Besides, they all have to start somewhere. Maddie is a good kid and she's talented. She has already done a few small roles and now is hoping to do more in film. She's off "Dance Moms". Don't judge the kids based on the bad decisions of their moms or Abby Lee. Sadly, they don't get much choice in it

She is really talented and I expect her to do very well. Her ability to express herself with her face while she dances was an indication to me that she could be an actress.

She has the same constipated expression every time she dances. Her appearance in the video for Sia's "Chandelier" made her a novelty, but she has no acting talent that I know of.

I've seen her act on a kiddie show. She played herself, and wasn't very convincing. Her younger sister is another story. I think Mackenzie could be a decent actress with training. She reminds me of Melissa Gilbert in her Little House days.

the role is more of a supporting actress with relatively few lines as compared with the other characters. The role calls for an Interpretive dance which is something she excels in so it seems to me she is a good choice for the part.
Consider too that there are child actors who have ZERO acting experiences who have bneen cast in leading roles and have captivated the cast, crew, public and critics. It doesnt happen often but it DOES happen. So I would certainly consider that a girl that has the needed dance experience as well as being in front of a camera before, should be able to fulfill the part quite well and in fact DOES fill the part well.
