Episode 1

Rubbish, but quite watchable... It's really beneath the wonderful Amanda Abbington and Ashley Walters is actually a really good actor when he puts his mind to it... Squashed in too many "issues" and Brighton tourist board must be tearing their hair out. But, like I said, watchable.

Reminds me of the Canadian series "19-2", on which it is likely based. But I think the Canadians did a much better job at keeping the drama more realistic and less of the melodramatic cudgels in Cuffs. Like you, I found it watchable, even though I didn't think it was brilliant.

It was a very busy first episode and rather strong in places for 8:00 pm.

It's that man again!!

Totally disagree!

I thought that this was one of the best series premiers I had seen in a long while.

There was plenty of action, the 'issues' were all believable and the acting and story lines were great.

The only flaw I found was the police chief chewing out the lead character over the suicide, which was obviously no longer a police matter. It only served to show that they are going to be in conflict in the future.

Me too, I enjoyed it also. The only possible flaw I noticed after episode 2 was gay bias but I might just be overanalysing. See my separate thread on that issue.
