If you think that the new trailer is less woke, think again: that's because Disney gave up to China

The story of Mulan in China has a different meaning than it has in the western world. While in western world Mulan is considered as a tale of how a woman becomes independent and empowered, well, that's not the case in China.

In China, it's a story of self-sacrifice. Mulan sacrifices her own happiness to take the place of her father in war. The original story doesn't have a happy ending: after years in the war, she'll promote and will become a general, true, but she'll end up old, lonely and rejected. The story is about self-sacrifice for loyalty to her elders, probably the most important moral value in Chinese culture. And last but not least: unless the western take, in the Chinese version she's not a super-powerful 90lb fighter, but a clever military strategist.

Now check the trailer again: (1) barely any feminist bullshit, (2) most of the trailer is about her relation and her sacrifice for her father (3) she doesn't appear doing super-empowered WuTang fights (even though the movie is probably filled with them). The trailer looks like it was announcing the Chinese version of the story!!

In a nutshell: it's a trailer is shaped exactly to fit Chinese taste. If, for a moment, you think Disney was going less woke... well, that was not for you, but for China.

Thats a terrible thing. We should sacrifice for the young people, not for the old people (who i respect anyway of course). Whats wrong with China? By the way there is trending on Twitter #BoycottMulan cause the actors of the movie Liu Yifei and Donnie Yen supports China's invasion of Hong Kong. Hope this movie flops.
