How patriotic is to ban ADHM?

Considering the fact that ADHM was filmed during the times when there were good relations with Pakistan.
And our PM used to visit the neighbouring country and exchanged gifts with their PM.
During that time the filming was wrapped, but now when the tensions brew up, is it fair to ban and boycott the movie?
And why all the restrictions for Bollywood alone, when the trade of other industries between the two countries is still on?

how narrow minded the indian industry and country is to ban a film starring paki actor.my best friend is indian and we all were surprised to hear this.Talent has no boundary.Hollywood wont ban a film with afghani or iraqi actors.

reply

Umm, in fact Hollywood rarely hires regional actors. Even the MCU film- Dr. Strange has a Caucasian woman playing a Tibetan.

reply

He was talking about ban, not the inability of Hollywood studios to hire a diverse cast instead of whitewashing.

reply

I wouldn't go so far and ban it. Just boycott it if you believe in what is happening. For me I am boycotting it. In fact any movies that has Salman, Shahrukh, Aamir.

reply

Oh, so it's not just Pakistanis you hate but Muslims as well. Typical hate-filled bigot. There is no difference between you and people who hate Indians.

reply

You are as confused as the lead actor in "a beautiful mind".your username fits on you perfectly.

reply

First of all, there is no ban or restrictions for ADHM from the govt side. But yes, many people have decided to boycott this movie and you can't force them to watch a movie, which they don't want to see.

The boycott from people is largely due to:
1. Anger against Pakistan for URI attacks, led by Pakistan supported terror groups.
2. Ungrateful behavior of Pakistani actors & their denial to condemn URI attacks.
3. Defending of Pakistani actors by the director/producer of the movie.

So the trade between India-Pakistan is still on & their is no restriction for film industry as well, but if someone decides to go against the public sentiment, then you have no one else to blame.

reply

There is no ban anymore.
But when I created this discussion topic, there were talks of banning the movie in 4 states.
And people were ignorantly claiming it's the decision of the distributors. Well, after the MNS extortion gimmick, and everything settling, the distributors are ready to show the movie. It's clear, that they're doing it out of sheer pressure and fear of hooliganism.

Secondly, about the boycott.
Why is there a test of only Khans or Producers who have Khans in their movies?
Did anyone ask Hrithik Roshan or Ajay Devgan about it? Though SRK was the first to tweet the condemnation of URI attacks among the Bollywood.
Why do some people have so much hatred for the Muslim actors who're not even Pakistani (and probably not even Muslim, rather agnostic)?
This kind of hatred breaks nations.

No matter how patriotic a person may be by heart, just his name would be enough for another person sitting behind a computer to brand him a traitor.

Answering your question, yes the press did ask Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar big time, and they gave their 100% support to the URI attack by Pak trained militants, and also added their opinion on the topic. You can see it on youtube. Cheers!

reply

Your reasons are ridiculous. You'd have them denounce their own country just so they could earn some money? This kind of pushy political involvement is one of the worst things you could do to damage art.

Politics should remain in the political realm. Rest should remain with the rest.

reply

You are confused.
The movie is BANNED in Pakistan and not in India. In India it is running normally.
Despite the fact that a Pakistani male was cast in one of the lead roles, the movie was banned in Pakistan. What does it say about you and your country Pakistan's patriotism?

reply

WHat a shame the deshbhakts are voting 1 to ADHM here without even watching the movie.

reply

Don't know whether somebody is voting 1 because of deshbhakti but I have watched the movie plus I am a huge fan of RK and if I wasn't so generous even I would have voted 1. So if casual movie goers are voting 1 for any reason, it is well deserved.

reply

Errm!
Deshbhakt who?
I watched i found it a stale copy paste combo of Jab Tak hai Jaan, Kal ho na ho.
I may have given it 1 due to presence of SRk else might have given 0 :)

reply

That's exactly the mindset I was talking about.
The on you have.
Just because I raised a question, you assumed that I am a Pakistani.. or a Pro Pakistani..
You stopped there, perhaps your parameters allow you that much. The others call us names like.. traitor.. Jihaadi.. Muzleya (it's new) etc. And I wonder why when I am actually an atheist but have liberal views, and do not have the hatred for other communities like they do.

reply

You are confused again.
My comment was on your wrong fact statement that the movie was banned in India which was a false statement, factually incorrect.
The movie already did a business of 130 mn. INR which is huge for a non Khan, non Akshay Kumar starrer Bollywood movie. You have not replied as to why you made this fictional statement of movie ban on India.
You also did not reply anything on the movie being banned in Pakistan despite the movie having a Pakistani male in one of the lead roles.

Finally I may have presumed that you are a Pakistani because of your factually wrong and vile post. Presumption can be wrong or right. One is free to make them but stating a factually incorrect statement is wrong and your being atheist, liberal, pakistani or Indian makes zilch different to it. SO while some of the people might presume that you are a Jehadi, Traitor etc (and they would be wrong in doing so), they are not as wrong as someone who makes incorrect statement to drive propaganda

reply

You may have missed my reply.
I mentioned it.. that when I commenced this post, there were talks of banning this movie in 4 states. Glad it didn't happen.

And why do I have to comment whether Pakistan bans the movie or celebrates it? It's not my concern. It is the concern of Pakistani people who will be devoid of good cinema. As an Indian citizen, I would want freedom of expression and banning of BAN.
People are ready to boycott, call names, and even threaten the lives of someone who would tell them that they're intolerant, what bigger irony could there be ?

reply

It is actually stupid to ban a movie based on any grounds. A movie is a movie. If you like the trailers and promos just watch it. If some individual feels that by not watching a movie he/she is doing an act of patriotism then just don't watch it. No need to force a someone's ideologies on everybody. Just don't watch it. Udta Punjab created so much controversy and the oh-so-sanskari people were deciding the boycott it but what's the point? You don't like, don't watch it. End of story. Banning a movie is a sign of anarchy. You don't leave people with a choice.

On why Bollywood is attacked. Because it is the easiest place to attack and usually producers cave-in because money is involved and one producer or director doesn't want to be tarnished for his/her whole life. Bollywood is easy target and that is the only reason.
