Patrick and Richie/Kevin

Does anyone know who Patrick will end up with in the movie? And also if he and Kevin are broken up in it?

reply

Well, as a team Richie fanatic I'm sincerely hoping for a happy ending with Richie and Patrick.

From what I understand, and have read, Patrick is not with Kevin in the movie.

reply

Neither of them. As much as I like Richie, Patrick screwed his chances up with his behavior towards Richie and Kevin is a manipulative child who brings the absolute worst out in him.

reply

I hope Richie finds someone better. Patrick is selfish, stupid, prone to horrible decisions and treated him poorly. Richie deserves better. Frankly, if I were him I'd never even speak to Patrick again. As for Kevin, he could jump off the Goldeb Gate Bridge for all I care. What a sociopath.

reply

I agree with everything you say but I stop short of calling Kevin a sociopath. A definition of a sociopath is a person with a psychopathic personality whose behavior is antisocial, often criminal, and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social ... As much as I did not like Kevin, I think sociopath is too extreme.

Yes, I know the outcome for Patrick, Kevin, and Richie. Great movie. I rated it a 10.

Damn, you are such a tease😝

reply

It's Ritchie. I'd rather see Patrick ends up with no one though.

I'm happy that it's Richie though. Patrick started to change and Richie saw that, just by his demeanor. I love this Patrick. I know Kevin was hurt, he was kind of hard on Patrick. He knew what kind of person Patrick was. Who knows if Kevin had reacted differently, maybe they could have together? Richie understood him why he left. In my heart, Patrick always loved Richie and vice versa. I love that they talked and talked. Richie also has some stuff to figure out. I just love the end, Patrick was finally at peace and his friends could see that.

reply

Yeah, though I was always team Kevin, I see now that it was never about team this or that, it was about Patrick being able to change for himself and take that risk.

I was so impressed by (the character) Kevin in this movie. He brought up very good points. The character didn't get a chance to reveal himself slowly to where he is now. For me (and viewers of certain demographics), he is the gem of the movie.

A "movie" like this means differently to different audiences (like the movie series "Harry Potter" and the TV series "The Magicians"). So through Patrick Murray's life journey in the series and this movie, I learn a lot about life.

When you differ in opinion, share why you do (and for what context).

I think the creators of this show kind of left hints in the precious two seasons of TV running. Only Richie/Patrick relationship enjoyed the whole-episode-talking (sorry I don't know how to put it in a better way!), so it must be about Richie and Patrick having a good ending. <== Sounds a lot like a hindsight, though.

Patrick started to change and Richie saw that

He really did see it, didn't he? I thought we got more than one hint at that.

Richie understood him why he left

He did. And he generally understood Patrick, when they talk is when you see how in sync they really are in their most private wishes and hopes. Like their conversation in ep 205, where Patrick gets how painful it is for Richie with his family because they relate to how important those people are to them in the same way, or in 105 when they talk about their feelings regarding wanting to marry.

In my heart, Patrick always loved Richie and vice versa

That's what I believe, too. It's present in a lot of little hints throughout season 2. Them always having been in love is why Richie comes back to the EndUp, it's why Richie still wants Patrick in his life even when the latter had just confessed to sleeping with Kevin in 108, it's why Patrick wants so badly to reconnect with Richie when they are broken-up and it's how he can be in love with Richie even after not having seen him for 9 months, because he always has been... 

Who knows if Kevin had reacted differently, maybe they could have together?

I'm truly happy that DIDN'T happen.
So Patrick shows up, Kevin tells him he loves him and once again Kevin dumps John to be with Patrick? How is that growth? Some posters mention a "loop" Patrick has trapped himself because he got back with Richie, but how is the "Kevin/Patrick" scenario any different? At least Richie never messed with his head or cheated on him. So in the end he made the right choice.
