Cheap Jumpscare
The iPhone jumpscare was really tacky and brought down the film. Took the entire audience out of the movie. I hope it gets edited out before the official release.

shareThe what? This is a horror movie???
shareThis is the first time I'm hearing this.
shareScreening I take it?
What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
Everyone in the audience jumped. I loved it
shareWhat was your favorite scene of the movie then? As opposed to this cheap jump scare
shareIt becomes apparent later in the film what this refers to. We find out that she had an abortion and this represents her feeling of guilt, so literally her demon. Probably was overdone, or could have been done better.
shareI saw the scare as a large indication of how the metaphor of the book she's reading is soaking into her day as well as dominating her nights. There was a hint of Tyler Durden about the insomnia. She was oblivious to the revenge painting yet it was her that ordered it years ago. She said there was "much to say" to her ex but he gave her all there was to think about with a tale about himself, then left her to stew on it.
So I liked the scare. At the very least it was a literal wake up call to fidgeting idiots in the audience that didn't seem to pick up on why there was a split narrative.
I'm part of the 'entire audience' that you've decided to speak for. It didn't take me out of the film at all.
It was a bit random, it was like I had gone into the wrong screen and starting watching Ouija 2: Origin of Evil
