Very fascinating

The foundations and beginnings of exit counseling (deprogramming) are very fascinating and this documentary does a fantastic job telling Ted Patrick's story. His successes and failures remind me of old timey Victorian era medical practice in that not every little cut requires amputation. The addict at the end demonstrated this very well. I felt bad for the guy because obviously he has always been deeply disturbed. I guess Ted got caught up in the anti-heavy metal hysteria that went on in the 1980s and tried to applied methods that he had some success with when dealing with actual cult members in the 1970s.

"I was worse when they were done with me." Guy wasn't even in a cult. He's just mentally disturbed.
