TV Land seems to have a habit of....

....making a mockery of church. That is not a good look for them.

reply

funny how no TV shows ever make fun of rabbis or jewish temples.

I agree. This is a perfect example. How dumb would an entire congregation to believe such a fallacy? And the fact he's gay? Such unrepentant sin in someone's life speaks volumes of their walk with YHWH.

reply

Which sin is that?

This program is not a mockery of the Church. It plays with the idiosyncrasies of a small town church. I never once felt the show was laughing at the religion in any way.

reply

Whats wrong with making fun of churches anyway?

reply

Nothing is wrong with that - we have freedom of speech. But I'd like to see the media, TVLand in particular, make fun of other religions for a change. But the media doesn't have the guts. Christian churches are an easy target. How brave, how edgy - NOT.

Don't mind that the "other religions" (by which you actually mean Islam) are usually depicted as violent terrorists in TV shows and movies (24, Sleeper Cell, Homeland). But I'm sure you'd prefer to be constantly labeled a violent extremist, instead of having some light-hearted fun poked at you. What a poor persecuted soul you are 😱

reply

I have no problem with it. It just seems like lighthearted fun to me.

I love this show. It's a 'dramedy', though, not a comedy.

Open your eyes, idiot! I see they are mocking the small-town people who just happen to be Christians, they are NOT attacking Christianity itself. The characters are mocked, yes, but gently.

And why not?? What makes Christians so special??? I think they are a deluded cult of hypocrites, myself. They are sitting ducks for mockery. But this show definitely takes it easy on them.

Interesting how all the good Christians whining about being made fun of are so thin-skinned, their tender buttocks feeling the scorch of earthly mockery. Shouldn't their big beard in the sky have made their butts fire-proof? But they weep and whine, 'ever'body's pickin' on us!'
