Reading in your Dreams

I distinctly remember reading someone's name in a dream - it was in the credits of a TV show and I saw them rolling by on the TV

Ahh! I forgot! Checking google many do say that you cannot read in a dream.

It really depends on the person. Some people can read in dreams, just as some people dream in color, while others dream only very sketchily in black-and-white.

Also, consider the time period, when we didn't know nearly as much about the neurological basis of dreaming as we do now.

I for one have had (at least) a dozen dreams where I was reading whole paragraphs out of a book. I always forget what I read, though. (Maybe I should put a voice-activated recorder near me when I'm sleeping.)

My dreams seem to be different from the dreams of the "average" person. Most of my dreams are in color. I can wake up from a nightmare in a moment. My subconscious likes playing tricks on me. (Once I dreamt that I was going to meet a nude model; it turned out to be a puppy.)

The show simply needed a method for Houdini to determine if he was dreaming or not.

reply

Yeah, like the spinning top in Inception.

reply

What's wrong with the proven method of pinching yourself when you're dreaming lol!

reply

Nothing in and of itself except that it has been done so many times in other shows that there is nothing interesting about it.

reply

yeah what's wrong with that ??..well except for the bruises
