It was OK

Matthew McConaughey's acting wasn't that great in this film...
The lead... wasn't that convincing either. I have a suspicion the real Rick, despite his age, was a bit more confident - and his pic from those days shows a fair amount of intelligence in his eyes, not really seen in the lead here. Because the acting isn't that great, the story was a bit of a tough sell.

As for the story itself - it's quite interesting, especially given that it's based on true story. The quality of acting was the only real downside.
