Why not shoot him in the leg?

why is it always "kill him or let him do" choice

when he can just shoot him in the legs and arrest him

Apparently, the brilliant Stein, who can decifer ancient madallions, even though he's only a physicist, didn't rem' they had a COLD GUN on board the ship!

Sara, I can forgive. Gideon had just woken her up from a broken neck and bullet in her liver!

Because the plot needed it. I like the show and all but it is so poorly written.

They had no less that four chances last season to capture Vandal Savage alive, haul his ass back to the Waverider and have Kendra kill him for good. Hell, at one point Rip had him beaten and in custody after a fist fight, then murdered him, thus setting him free.

Don't get me wrong! I like the show, too. I only nitpick b/c this forum gives me (us) the luxury of voicing our opinions. Every show, particularly an adventure show, have to have these plotholes.

Thank you! That's exactly, exactly what I thought. "Shoot him in the leg you idiot!" I was yelling at Jax. That way, you get The Spear back and capture Rip. Have Gideon fix him and then you have him as your prisoner and you can work on fixing his mind. Why does the choice have to be strictly between murdering him or letting him go? Because this show is stupid. That's why!

A large caliber lead ball from a muzzle loading pistol of the era at that range would have taken off his leg.

Then shoot him in the foot! This is the reason they are shutting IMDB down, they don't like us pointing out the obvious flaws in their shows

It was like that with Savage too. Okay, so only a special person and weapon could kill him else he'll reincarnate, but who cares? They could at least capture the guy then figure out how to kill him later. Since he's such a master at manipulation and a good fighter it's possible he'd escape capture at some point. That being said, a good work-around would be to remove his limbs. He won't die assuming he gets medical attention and he would have no way to escape. They could have done that on Arrow.

More on topic, the same could have been done with Rip without permanently maiming him since they have a machine that can regen limbs.
