Arthur Havisham

He's starting to see that he bit off more than he can chew. He can't control Compeyson, and in fact, Compeyson is controlling him. Do you think it has crossed Arthur's mind that Compeyson is really only in this for himself and intends to cut Havisham out completely, once he controls Amelia's holdings?

Do you think Compeyson is only keeping Arthur around because he might still be useful? Once he's no longer needed...

Do you think a moment will arrive when Arthur regrets, for Amelia's sake and even her safety, bringing Compeyson into their lives? I don't mean Arthur regrets trusting Compeyson, only because Compeyson squeezes Arthur out; I mean Arthur regrets bringing Compeyson into his sister's life because Compeyson's a really bad person who is capable of bringing serious harm upon his sister.

BY what I remember the guilt does eat away at him and he becomes a drunkard with nightmares related to up-coming events.

He's isn't evil in this story, just stupid and weak. He doesn't hate his sister and I think the moment will come where he'll feel very badly for her, and the fact that he won't get what he wants either will add an extra sting.

His initial plan wasn't even all that wicked, just under-handed. I think he has massively underestimated Compeyson, probably due to his own snobbery assuming that the 'lower orders' are idiots and easily controlled.

About a different subject on Arthur Havisham: I guess the reason his father left him so little inheritance is because Arthur is gay? It was implied in one episode where he discussed it with Compeyson.

But I also sensed some weird vibes between Arthur and Amelia. Maybe I'm just imagining it, but they are only half-siblings after all... Did anyone else notice it or am I just creating unnecessary drama in my head? :D Maybe it's not romantic love but Arthur just really cares about his sister but is too angry with her right now and stubbornly won't drop his stupid plan.

I also picked up on the fact that Arthur was left so little because he is gay.

As for his relationship with his sister, I think you may have that all in your head. I beleive that although Amelia loves Arthur and vice versa, Arthur has always been jealous of her.

No power in the verse can stop me
