right hand in a cast **SPOILER**

Elliot (Joel Kinnaman) has his hand in a cast from the beginning - he broke it hitting his boss, we learn.
After his son goes in the ditch, later in the Jeep he beats the s**t out of it, smashing the cast and removing it completely (tearing it off). You can see he's in pain after.
So how in the H*** was he able to do any of those things later?! Like keep slugging that guy until he kills him, or holding that hand over the guys mouth to smother him. Or even save his son from drowning. BS!
Both of those hunters could easily have put up a winning (or tie) fight in their conflicts with him (if his hand had been broken).
Way before he even met those hunters, for all the things he did with that hand, it would be swollen 3 times its size and hurt so bad he couldn't sleep.
I could not go along with that serious plot hole.

His hand could've been nearly healed...but his mind wasn't. It was his mind that came unhinged and gave him strength and the ability to do whatever he thought necessary. And in his mind he needed to protect his sons even if in reality he was doing the exact opposite. That was kind of the whole point.
The reason he got one up on everyone was because they weren't quite prepared for his insanity. You can prepare for evil or bad better than you can someone that just keeps coming like a mad mother grizzly bear that can't feel their own pain.

Of all the things that may be wrong with this script...I don't think your plot holes rate that high.
You can dissect any movie if that's your bag.

Agreed, mostly.
But you forget the fact that a man will not just lay down and die; he will fight back for life. And remember, these are 'woods-type' guys, not wimps; hence my comments in OP.
I never mentioned there guns; they were available to them again after the dad went out. One of them could've got past those kids to get them. IMO
