Morgan followed her directives perfectly though

The guy interviewing her asked her to "demonstrate what you would do if I told you I was going to terminate you." If he told her he was going to terminate her, she would kill him and try to escape (as would anyone in that situation). So she demonstrated killing him and escaping. She was actually just doing exactly what he said.

When it happened, I thought they were going to this idea as some kind of "twist" towards the end, where it's revealed that she actually had no emotion and the entire escape was just the AI following his command.

the idiot psychiatrist told her to demonstrate what she would do instead of just telling him what she would do.... so you're right, Morgan did follow his instructions.

This isn't correct. If she was to be terminated, and this was her directive, her response should be to comply with her directive.

Yeah sure, a human would invoke that fight or flight response, but asynthetic being or robot should, regardless of their perceived artificial emotional intelligence, only ever follow the rules put in place by their leaders/creators.

For example, I'm sure if L4 (Kate Mara's character) was in that same room, her response wouldn't be to fight. She's an assassin only because that's the role her creators programmed in her. If those same creators initiated a termination for her she'd follow accordingly.

So yeah, she literally did the opposite of following her directives. And this is clearly because the team working on her were:

a) unable to control her due to her inbuilt advanced intelligence and her emotional instability
b) too caught up in seeing her as a human they forgot what she really was.
