Stupid

So Morgan knows martial arts, she feels no pain, she can drive a car and she knows how firearms work.

She been locked up for 5 years with a bunch of scientists that obviously teached her all the above...

Yeah right.
Stupid movie.

And no one In this world uses cell phones to call for help or backup. This movie bombed so bad almost 1/3 the way through. Just one more failure of a movie to forget about.

reply

yes it's failure just like you, they went against their corporate, who would they call for help, it's obviously secret illegal project.

reply

it's stupid, almost as stupid as you are, this is half machine, it learns by software.

reply

She is not half machine... You remind me the line "So the cops knew that internal affairs were setting them up?" :)

reply

SPOILERS she is genetically programmed, so she may have a lion dna that make her fight like a lion more probably she had the dna from the older version that was sent to kill her.

edit, beside who ever said they never brought any trainers, or they could train her in virtual reality program like in the matrix.

beside who said scientists don't know marshal arts, that huge guy with beard could have trained her!

reply

Not one thing about this movie was original....soooo bad & sooo predictable. DUMB!!!!!

reply

Really? Did you know the corporation was going to stick with the L4 model over the L9. Or that the title character would have been killed by another artificial being? If you did, you probably shouldn't have watched it and saved yourself the disappointment.

Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.

reply

Actually all of that was obvious from the moment the L4 interacted with the first human.
I only watched it because I thought there was supposed to be some kind of unexpected twist at the end.
Boy was I wrong.

BigRich, sometimes is better to be oblivious to such movies, to be surprised by so-called plot-twist. The movie practically screamed at us that Lee was another synthetic human and the remote location was a test for her, not for Morgan.

reply

Of course he would know it had he watched Blade Runner or Alien, or maybe got a hint that this is a movie made by Ridley Scott's son.

reply

Well. not quire as stupid as Neo learning Kung Fu in a few hours. I thought it was a decent time killer. The only unfortunate thing was that the twist ending was telegraphed ten minutes into the film. As well as the great Brian Cox was wasted in no more then a glorified cameo.

reply

They mention that her "weaponized parameters take over". She was not taught by the staff, these capabilities have been built into her genetic make-up. The scientists were trying to make her more emotional.

reply

Agreed, this is a stupid movie. But entertaining due to it being quite hilarious with all the plot holes.

I a SciFi movie you can all sorts of things. Did you think it was a documentary?

reply

With respect, I guess you didn't pay enough attention and missed that she was designed as a weapon. Therefore one can see how she would have all these things built into her design.

It is stated at 1:04:45 when the doctor is recording her report to the board.

What I found even MORE stupid was <Spoiler alert> how everyone hesitated to a fatal degree to do what had to be done. You have to terminate someone, don't hesitate, don't muck about, DO IT. The body count was utterly stupid. No reason for it. Yes I agree that for someone that grew to that level in 5 years would have all those life skills. I have seen worse films, I have seen films that went against logic and science far worse than this, but this still was a waste of a potentially good script/idea, and some great talent.

It was made quite obvious that only Dr. Cheng and Lee Weathers (L-4 model) are the only one to know the full extent of the project.

Everyone else in the house is working on biorobotic project. And spending 5 years of your life (not counting the previous years spent on trying to bring the project to fruition) with this human like character will obviously create sentimental attachment.

Thus preventing anyone who's not privy about the real nature of the L-9 project to terminate the subject.

Would you shoot Laura Ingalls even though she bit the jugular out of a shrink ?

The body count was utterly stupid.

If it's stupid to you then you missed the point.

The body count is relevant to the focal point of the story, protect Synsect Tech
investment (The L-Series, weapon designed of genetically modified humans) and above all preserve the asset (Lee Weathers, L-4 model)

If Dr. Darren Finch delivered the lethal injection to Morgan like he was supposed to, no one would have died. Even more so, Lee is trying to prevent useless death by warning Ted to open the door and others to let her do her job.

Case in point with Skip, he's asked to stay by the car to not witness anything that would have him terminated. When Lee returns she tells him they need to leave. But his constant questioning leads to his ultimate demise.

Nice try, but the level of stupidity is hard to defend. Namely the Amy character who had possession of a gun, was allowed to leave IN an SUV and just sat there shaking for like fifteen minutes, then after witnessing Morgan kill multiple persons she follows her out onto the dock(now seemingly calm) to discuss how awesome the sky was. Then watches Morgan go to kill the potential last person left and just waits for her. Perhaps you will argue She was like a sister to her! After she saw the thing use others feelings for it to gain tactical advantage more than once I doubt she would be so trusting. Being rooted to the spot out of fear is real...but I don't think it remains for several minutes after the threat is gone and has given you keys to drive away. That is just my gut feeling as I have never seen a robot girl thing murder people before. And twice Idiots walked into the things romo apparently oblivious to the danger.Did Giamatti's character know she was a death-robot? For a group of Scientists and Doctors they were utter fools in almost every way.
