Very Blade Runner-ish....(spoilers)

Homage to Blade Runner? Who else thought the scene where Morgan killed its "mother"/creator (the Japanese lady) was uncannily like Batty killing Tyrell (almost like it was intentional, even the dialogue was reminiscent). Do you ever get the feeling writers pick on a classic movie, bullet-list certain story beats and then disguise them for a new script?

I'll just chuck in some more:

Lee Weathers = Deckard, the "Blade Runner" tasked with killing the cyborg, and in this case it was confirmed that the Blade Runner IS a cyborg in a predictable "twist" that I guessed about half-way through. Blade Runner leaves this theory in ambiguity, although Ridley Scott has since said in interviews that he thinks Deckard IS a replicant, whether the screen-writers agree with him or not (they don't).

Psych evaluation resulting in interviewer's murder by Morgan was like Leon's interview by Holden at beginning of Blade Runner, IE the interviewer is gradually attempting to trick or test the synthetic being into revealing it's non-human attributes, and gets killed for it.

The Deer = the Unicorn (yeah OK i'm just getting silly now)

It's an OK movie but it doesn't have half the artistry or subtlety of Blade Runner. The score was good, it had a certain style to it and the acting performances were generally good, aside from a couple of totally useless superfluous characters that wouldn't have been missed.

OK I literally just read that it was directed by Ridley Scott's son five minutes after posting this!!! haha

Nothing like Blade Runner. Have you even watched that movie?

Did you even read my post? Thanks for your detailed and interesting reply which fully justifies your opinion that it is nothing like Blade Runner.

One is in SPACE, the other one ISN"T. How are they the same?? I don't think you know what your talking about, not being rude, just don't understand your post.

Yes, I stated that at the end of my original post. That was the clincher for me haha, but even before I knew that, I was thinking this. Morgan is almost like an alternative-universe "origin story" for how Blade Runner's replicants came to be fugitives, if you imagine that Morgan had escaped and masqueraded as a human instead of being killed.

Hmmmmm. Okay. I don't think there's much left to discuss then, I clearly stated the obvious similarities I see to Blade Runner in my original post, so there's no point in me saying them again. I'm still wondering whether you've actually read beyond the title of the original post.

PS. I have to ask this, which of these two films is "set in space"? (unless you are referring to the replicant's origins, which are only described in Blade Runner's prologue, not shown in the movie - even so, Blade Runner is not set in space and neither is Morgan)

"One is in SPACE, the other one ISN"T."

No, neither are set in space, have you actually watched either film?

"How are they the same??"

Nobody had said they are the same, just share similarities.

"I don't think you know what your talking about"
I don't think you have a clue.

"not being rude"
Just being a *beep* idiot. People like you are the reason the boards are being cancelled.
