First trailer is now out! What do you guys think of it?

I still not sure yet. The tone of the film feels very different from the first two and I am a bit scared that the original Ghostbusters will only be in the film for 5 minutes or so. Still I am looking forward to it and it looks less goofy than the reboot so that is a good thing going for it.

It has perhaps a more serious tone than the originals, but it certainly looks like a good film so far. One can't always glean all that much from a trailer, but everything I saw there left me intrigued and anticipating a film that I was heretofore on the fence about.

reply

As a stand alone it looks like a pretty good movie. But as you said, the tone is off from the other films.

Whatever doubts I originally had were tossed aside. The trailer looks damn good. I don't mind the kids so much now that I could see them in action. The behind-the-scenes photos didn't really do them justice. The second installment is confirmed to be canon, so that's a plus in my book.

Here's hoping the OG crew will have enough screen time à la the last two episodes of Extreme Ghostbusters (1997).

The tone is different, but I still liked it.
If they can't do funny, then better it be an action-adventure than a lame attempt at bad jokes like in 2016.

reply

looks like a fun 80s style scifi adventure flick with stitched on ghostbusters fan service. kudos for the trailer just teasing the ghosts instead of showing them.

reply

I am rooting for it. It looks fun. My greatest fear is that it will be just kids going around saying 'wow, awesome' at everything.

reply

Yeah I'm afraid about the same thing as well...

reply

It looks like a Stranger Things/Super 8 ish movie.

Which is kinda cool.

But I thought the original living cast were supposed to be major players here?

Outside of cameo's over a dinner table...where were they?

A bit disappointed in that.

This certainly isn't Ghostbuters III...

On a side note, there isn't any more vomit left to expunge from my stomach or esophagus following the disastrous release of Ghostbusters 2016.

I'll be 3 years clean to that day!!

All three of the surviving original Ghostbusters, plus Sigourney Weaver, are in this film. They made the deliberate decision not to show a single scene with them. And even what they did show avoided revealing anything you really don't want to know going in. There's been a trend for years of putting too many reveals, and too many of the best lines, in the trailers. I like it better this way.

It looks ok but I don't plan to see it in theaters though.
