All NonChristians painted as bullies.

Why do Christian movies always paint people who aren't Christians as bad, angry and aggressive people. It's incredibly insulting.

I don't believe this movie portrayed all non-Christians as angry and aggressive. There were quite a few people who had me confused as to where they stood on the matter of God. Of course not all atheists are bad unpleasant people. I have friends who are non-Christians and we can socialize together, work together, etc, and we get along fine. Then of course, I have a few atheist friends who are rude and tell me I'm stupid for believing in a sky God. One in particular became truly offended by a Christian post regarding prayer that I posted on my facebook page. Apparently he didn't like it because he commented several posts about how he and his wife are both atheists and prayer is meaningless and ranted at several other Christian posters telling them they were stupid for what they believed. So he looked angry and aggressive. There are also people who call themselves Christians who come across as angry and aggressive as well. You can go on any of the Christianity movie boards on here and see them as well. The debate between God and no God is not a pissing contest.

So who would you say was a non-Christian portrayed in a 'good' light in this movie? You have 'friends' who call you stupid? Those aren't friends and you shouldn't need me to tell you that.

Because that's what they're taught. Atheists aren't good people. They believe in nothing. Science is their religion. Darwin is their god. It doesn't matter that some atheists are religious (Jains, certain sects of Buddhists and Hindus etc.,). They have no morals. They make up the vast majority of people in prisons (because religious people, especially Christians, never commit crimes) and they constantly persecute religious people who constantly persecute others for not being that particular religion. Atheist teachers only talk about how awful religion is, and try to deconvert in every single class. That's just who they are: they're evil people.

Some Christian movies have to have a counterpoint to the Christian point of view. The whole non-believing world is not directly hostile to Christianity. But, the antagonists are not usually going to be someone from another religion. They will be from the anti-religion camp, or atheists. It depends on what the producers are attempting to communicate about the Christian faith that makes for the story line and the requisite characters.

For example, some Christian movies such as Courageous and Facing the Giants, do not have over the top hostile people in them - not that I recall. In other Christian movies such as Heaven is For Real, a lot of the opposition comes from other Christians. These movies were making a point about faith that did not necessarily involve hostile neighbors and co-workers. So you do not have a consistent portrayal such as you are making it out to be.

On the other hand, I did find the open hostility to be a tad unrealistic. Open confrontations that involve destruction of property, arson, and physical assaults are rare in this country. Maybe the producers exaggerated to make a point or add an element of excitement to an otherwise bland storyline, but they could have taken a more believable approach. So I get your point in this regard.

Most of the opposition to anything Christian (at this point in our history) takes place in the legal arena surrounding public education. On this point, the movie is accurate.

It's no God's Not Dead, but it's good for a few laughs.

I don't believe that they did that here at all. The main plot is that several parents of children in a public school decide to try to rid the school of the God Club. That involves showing them as "bad guys" in order to tell the story. No mention whatsoever is made about the religion (or lack thereof) of these parents, only that they don't want the club at the public school. To say atheists are being attacked here is not telling the truth. They could just have easily been of any faith at all, and we have no idea.

The fact of the matter is the mere existence of the club is hurting no one (except for the fact they didn't need permission slip from their parents to join). The parents could have, just as easily, told their children that they couldn't join the club. Because you disagree with something doesn't give you the right to deprive others of it.

Another fact here in real life, is that atheists are attacking every mention or show of Christianity. They do that by bullying and threatening. In my mind, that makes them "bad, angry and agressive."
