Would You Let Your 22yr old Daughter Date 38yr old D-Bag?

I wouldn't.

I saw the movie last night. Laird is 32 and Stephanie is 22. Ned, the dad, does bring this up early on as a concern of his, but it's never addressed again(although Stephanie finishing school is a major plot point).

reply

Franco is 38 in real life and looks 45 so...

reply

Franco looks 45??? I think he looks much younger than 38. You are blind.

reply

if you look at his face only and not his body or the tattoos they have on him to give him the aura of being young, he actually looks quite old. google image search recent HD pics of him he has more lines than a roadmap. and his teeth are quite yellow. i dont know how to link here or i would.

And just how will you stop a legal adult from doing what they want, you planning on killing your daughter?

reply

In the American south, in many "Christian" families, your daughter is basically your property and you must "obey" what they say. That's why you see purity rings and so much incest. And yes, killing your daughter, is very much an option (or at least cutting her off from everyone in her life or having your son beat her senseless). It's no problem, usually, because the police chief is a good friend of the family. There's at least a couple of stories in every town like that, if you know the south well.

reply

That's BS and you know it. "Honor" killings are a muslim thing.

You have many question, Mr Sparkle. I send you premium -- answer question, hundred percent!

reply

Sadly, no. And you don't have to kill him to get the message across.

Welcome to the new-old America. I'm sure everybody hating us will make us much safer from international terrorism. For sure. No problem. Really. I mean it.

reply

I have lived in the south my entire life, and I have never heard such a thing be talked about as if it is the norm here. Sure, there are those 1 or 2 stories that you hear once in a blue moon, but that is in no way how the south can be depicted. And usually when I hear these stories, they are in Utah or Montana or some other random state.

reply

Someone's never been to the American South. That is the craziest, most paranoid thing I've read on this thread.

reply

Kill the daughter? Hell no.
But I wouldn't be above killing the D-Bag and dumping his body in an ally where stray dogs could have some fresh meat to eat.

Warlock: What, like you're a big fan of the Fett?
McLane: No, I was always more of a Star Wars guy.

reply

I sure hope so. I'm almost 36 😁

But in reality - most 22 year old are not going to need to get their parents permission to marry anyone nowadays. Plus, given how prevalent divorce is, the parents would probably go along with it anyway. If it doesnt' work out, their daughter will be single again in a couple years anyway.

When I watched the trailer, the first thing I thought was that the daughter looked way too young for James Franco. They should've cast a younger actor.

Welcome to Fright Night....for real. 

reply

I like James Franco, but he's pushing 40 and looks it. He's still handsome, but he's 38, not 32 like the character.

reply

A rich douchebag..... Yeah.

reply

The guy is a billionaire. I think the dad can overlook the D-baggary train wreck just like the daughter did. There's no movie here except the dad happily going along with whatever crazy s**t the dude is doing and then bad mouthing him behind his back to his wife.

reply

Exactly.

reply

The money is not what won him around at the end. He realised that Laird was completely sincere and really loved his daughter.
Also, when Laird first met Stephany he pretended to be a low level Uber programmer, so she didn't fall in love with his money either.

Girls mature way faster than men. It starts in grade school and never ends. A 10 year age gap is appropriate and often for the best. It's also extremely common, particularly in second marriages.

How is it for the best? You seem to be stuck in the 1950s. If women mature faster then they shouldn't need men. Men don't mature...ever. Str8 men that is. We gay men are less of pigs than you str8 are.

Double standards. You are allowed to date younger girls but you don't like older women dating younger men.

screen shot me the post where i even came close to hinting at that

You have no say. SHE WOULD BE AN ADULT.
