Honestly, did they think young adults wouldn't make the connection? What's it even meant to stand for, anyway?

yup, pretty on the nose. might as well just brand name themselves 'evil fucks'.

It's the entire problem with the whole "young adult fiction" concept. It lets adult writers get away with lazy and uninspired ideas in the notion that they're writing for young adults.

Worse yet is that adults buy into it and elevate it into something akin to adult fiction.

And yes, it does sound like they created a backronym there.
