Plot Description doesn't make sense...

"A man tries to raise the brilliant young daughter of his dead sister, but battles with the child's mother over custody."

So there are only a couple ways this statement makes sense.

The dead sister had a female partner so the daughter has 2 moms.

The dead sister adopted the daughter and now the biological mother wants custody.

Any other possibilities?

I'm guessing English isn't your first language?

reply

English is my first language, yet still this description lacks gramatical sense

reply

Why? Do you think the plot description makes sense?

reply

I'm guessing it's not your first language.

reply

Should say "child's grandmother." Good call.

reply

His dead sister also became a ghost?

reply

It should read "battles with the child's GRANDmother." Can't wait to see Lindsey Duncan's "Evelyn!"

reply

They changed the description, but STILL didn't get it right. It's the GRANDmother. Lindsay Duncan plays the GRANDmother.

This plot sounds a bit like the plot of Black or White which also starred Octavia Spencer. In that movie Kevin Costner is raising his granddaughter and after his wife dies he gets into a custody battle with his granddaughter's other grandma.

reply

Meaning the man's Mom.

Mom has 2 kids, brother & sister.

Sister has a child. Sister dies. Brother tries to raise the child but has to battles HIS mother for custody. He's the uncle. The Grandmother, his mother, wants Custody.

reply

I still don't get it. Why would mother and son fight in court for custody of a child? Couldn't they agree to both take care of the child?

By Grabthar's Hammer...what a savings.

reply

Because that's the plot of the movie.

reply

It's a mistake. He battles with the young girl's grandmother.
