Slightly OT: What medical shows do you watch

and what's your favorite thing about them?

Watched ER and Grey's Anatomy for quite awhile, some good characters and plots. House from time to time, interesting stories and good for a laugh.

Saving Hope is my favorite at the moment...love the supernatural element and almost all the characters are likeable and played by talented, personable actors.

On the other hand, didn't like a single character on Remedy.

I am loving Code Black at the moment. Great characters and realistic. Saving Hope is also great. Haven't watched Grey's in years. Chicago Med is ok. Remedy is not bad; you are right, most of the characters are unlikable but I love Enrico Colantoni and will watch anything with him in it.

Have you seen The Knick? It is fantastic.

I never apologize, Lisa. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am. Homer Simpson

Don't have Cinemax, but might have to try and watch online.

House is not a medical show, it is a thinly veiled Sherlock Holmes.

To me, the best medical shows of all time were Scrubs, St Elsewhere, and Green Wing. Real medicine is painful and needs the comedy aspect to soften the blow. I liked The Knick because it espoused our attitude at work, "if we knew what we were doing, it wouldn't be research."

I think my percentage of Chimp DNA is higher than others. Cleaver Greene

My favorite is St Elsewhere but at the moment, I watch Code Black, Chicago Med and NightShift. I'm not really feeling Heartbeat so I may give it a pass if it doesnt hook me by the fourth episode.

My all time favourite is ER and I'm really enjoying Code Black its kind of like a modern ER.

I still watch Greys but I think its more out of habit.

I love Saving Hope and the different supernatural element.

Chicago Med is ok but at this point I'm only watching because I watch the other Chicago shows and am hoping it will improve.

I really like The Night Shift. It started out as ok but has improved and has some good storylines and I like the fact that they are army docs.

I also used to watch Chicago Hope and I liked it but its more focused on the relationships than the medicine. Kind of like Greys but in the 90s.

I also watch All Saints which is an Australian medical show and probably the most accurate, of course I'm Australian though and work in a hospital so maybe they just do things differently in the US & Canada. You can watch this on YouTube :)

I will give All Saints a look-see. I'm picking through AU series at the moment (obviously by my .sig line). They seem to mix the elements of US and UK shows pretty well. Patiently waiting for the 4th series of Rake. I thought Upper Middle Bogan was hilarious. How does one differentiate between AU and NZ shows since it seems that Westside and Outrageous Fortune are mostly AU casted? Liked "Glitch" as a down under version of Les Revenants. As an American I'm trying to locate Crownies online so I can follow Janet King better. Also saw Winter. I think I'm slowly working through everything Robyn Malcolm and Antonia Prebble have been in.

Check out Scrubs. Episodes like "My Old Lady" and "My First Kill" are way more intense than the drivel of so-called medical dramas.

The better seasons on All Saints are 6-8 IMO but its all pretty good. Starts out in a ward and then moves to emergency and then does medical response unit as well.

Also have a look at Rescue Special Ops, its about a search and rescue team in Sydney and was a great show.

Love Child is also great if you like anything set in a different time. Its set in 1970s and is about midwives and doctors and unwed pregnant women.

I think lots of Aussie actors work in NZ shows and vice versa so might be hard to tell, I haven't heard of most of those shows though so I'd assume they are NZ shows.

I have watched random episodes of scrubs but never got into it but I'll give it another try :)

Saving Hope. Love the cast and the supernatural stuff!

Mercy is quite good too, and Private Practice. Both have ended now, but are still good :)
