Although it looks nothing like the 90s UK version...

Heartbeat 2016 is an American medical drama television series based on the real life of Dr. Kathy Magliato, as described in her book Heart Matters. As you say nothing like the 90's UK TV series which is fictional and based on the 1960s lives and adventures of the police constabulary, medical staff and residents of Ashfordly and Aidensfield. based on books by Caroline Graham.

I know it isn't a remake, I was intrigued by the trailer for this and when I saw the name I just had to 'make' the connection.

p.s. I never watched the UK Heartbeat

I saw a premiere of this about a year ago in a focus group. It was an awful show. It wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the fact that it is a blatant rip off of Grey's Anatomy. While I understand it is based on a real person, the similarities to every single character in GA was too hard to ignore.

The first time I saw the trailer it just screamed Christina Yang to me. It does seem like a rip off

blatant rip off of Grey's Anatomy.

As I said in another thread, this show is like House and Grey's had a baby. Which is sad because of the potential this show could've had.
