Live audience

It totally sounds like canned laughter but it's not. Same problem one of Louis C.K.'s shows had where no one knew it was real people laughing.

That is because they edit in extra laughter and sounds in the editing. It sounds fake because of multiple takes, you don't get the same response to a joke the second or fifth time you hear it. The editors try to account for that. I would much rather have no audience noise, or no audience. I don't need to be told when to laugh - the original reason for laugh tracks was so that people would know it was appropriate to laugh at a segment of material.

I was actually in the audience for every episode and they would always change the jokes up or the scene a little. Everyone always laughed and we were never told to laugh. If a joke didn't work or get a response they changed it. ???
