Up through Episode 5

So - Just wanted to play catch up on my thoughts up through episode 5. So anyone who hasn't watched them all so far doesn't have to read spoilers if they don't want to.

The part where they had to Destroy all that pot was ridiculous and sad. I think I might lose my cool at that point. I know it's just another rule among many many rules But I can't even write the word for what I think of that one here! I'll just leave it at "ridiculous"! And what a waste all the way around. How does that benefit anyone or anything whatsoever? Who makes these terrible rules?

One thing that really got to me episode 5 - Yes Caitlin. The first episode or two it came off as Caitlin was a business woman blazing a trail and all this stuff. Fast foward to episode 5. Perhaps she was just being used because Brian currently can't own a business. And there's another business owner or two who we barely see and are barely made aware of?

Granted Caitlin's nerves have been pushed to the limit, I really really can understand the incredible pressure and stress BUT I still want to yell "Get a grip girl!" You are the one who agreed or wanted to own and run this business, stand up to the plate.

She's just going to fall into a crying pile of mush and "hand over" the business to Brian because he's a man and men can deal with the stress of business better? This will annoy me! I know she is only 25 or whatever but it bothers me she has caved to the stereotype of the "emotionally frail woman".

Feminist rant over! And that "Grimm" is just plain creepy and the cameramen obviously know it and are playing that one up big time.

I didn't fully understand this part. Why did they have to destroy it? I realize they were told they could not transport it (this seemed really stupid), but did they have to destroy it because they lost their lease on that growing spot, or because there was not enough room at that spot?

And that "Grimm" is just plain creepy...

indeed! seems highly intelligent, but not the type of person that is easy to be around.

Another thing.. I am guessing by this point, -all- the city council members are very sorry they agreed to participate in this show.

I could be way wrong, but I would imagine when they heard it was CNN producing it, they assumed it would be more of a straight ahead documentary/news show, but instead they style of it looks more like something MTV produced! What's with all the super dramatic slo-mo shots?!?

Destroying all that pot, and it was a Large amount, in monetary terms something like a million dollars worth. I don't know the exact reason they had to destroy it. Some law that specified even the way it had to be destroyed, mixed with another chemical that solidified it etc. I don't understand any more about that law, but it just seems plain stupid to me. Stressful too for them to be forced to destroy their own perfectly good product that they took time , effort, and money to grow.

I have no idea if the city council regrets agreeing to participate in the show. But - "Reality " shows have to get ratings, and boring (and even intelligent I hate to say it) probably doesn't get ratings.

I was a bit surprised "Grimm" was moving from a lovely old 3 bedroom house to a studio. That's part of what makes Brekenridge so beautiful is the houses. And yeah she had one moment of a creepy laugh and they slow-mo repeated it over and over!

I like the series so far, but my one gripe is some of the finer legal points are not explained; the part about why they had to destroy the plants is a case in point. I can only assume the law says something to the fact about not transferring plants from one grow site to another. Why would the law state such a thing? Again, I can only assume it has something to do with the idea of maintaining control over the product. If plants are being transported, perhaps a legislator had the idea that plants would be reported as lost, or died during transport, but in reality were transferred to the black market.

I wish there was a legal expert, or a reporter that would insert themselves to discuss key legal points.

yeah, i don't see how transporting live plants is a no-no, yet they can transport huge amounts of ready-to-smoke pot all day long.. tho strange government rules should not be that much of a surprise to anyone!

Hi Its Sunny. The legal situation out here is very interesting. All the laws can be found at the Colorado Department of Revenue. As with all new industries new and updated regulations tend to pop up on as needed basis (Edibles).

Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them

lol feminist rant.

and "hand over" the business to Brian because he's a man and men can deal with the stress of business better?

nope, not because he's a man but because he's actually handling the situation and not freaking out. being 25 doesnt excuse anything. if it did then 35 year old men would all be millionaires and business owners. she didn't cave to a stereotype. she was just being herself. feminists can keep dreaming that women are strong but that's just not true for most women.

here's how the world works. you want to get something, nobody gives it to you, you have to get it yourself. doors don't open for men because they're men. nobody is holding women down. nobody held men up. so the fact that women have been backseat riders for about 10000 years, would seem to be enough proof that women aren't strong.

oh well.
