Were there people talking and getting on their phones in your theater?

I went and watched the movie Friday and there wasn't that many who shown up and those who did was pretty good about not talking or being on their phones. When I went back yesterday and watched it again, there were a lot more people and there was one group behind me that started talking a little bit and another one you could hear on the end of the row behind me. There were a couple of them in there that seemed to laugh for no real appearant reason during scenes that weren't suppose to be funny and there were a few who pulled out their phones for a little bit.

My theater was only half full, but there was lots of laughter. Some of it came from this guy behind me, who would give a running commentary during the sex scenes. But there was laughter from serious scenes, probably because they fell flat, leaving the audience feeling more than a little awkward.

Take the scene when Christian falls on his knees. That drew the most laughter in the entire movie. The whole thing came off so ingenuine. Again, the proper reaction was missing and we have this strange action that was over as quickly as it began. The audience was robbed of why that was supposed to be a momentous moment between these two characters. They should've played with the lighting to show just how long he sits like that, in a trance, scaring the $hit out of her. But it came off like nothing. Then she touches his chest, and if I never had read these books, I'd be like 'wtf just happened?'

The problem here was, there were too many of these inconsistencies spread through out. It's things like this that tank the movie. I think Darker had even more of these awkwardly transitional scenes than FSOG.

Too sad they screwed up this scene. From what u described, they failed terribly with a VERY important scene. There was someone who posted on this board that Dr. Flynn's part should've not been cut. Having him in this movie, if only for a moment, would've shed some light on Christian's dropping to his knees in SUBMISSION. In the book, this scene is MOMENTOUS!! I got teary reading it...sounds like they've made some mistakes. Oh well...what can we do? Just take it for what it is!!

The theatre was packed at my screening, but there were two couples, both diagonally in front of me, who were filming the spicy bits of the film on their mobile phones.

I'd normally get annoyed and probably get a member of staff but the film was soooo laughably $h!t that I found this funny as well and let it ride.
