I totally misunderstood the show...

Ok, this is pretty embarrassing but... I thought all the contestants were actors. I thought the whole show was a parody; a bit like Dead Set or the end of Shaun of the Dead where you see zombies put into silly contests.

I've only watched an episode and a half, but it was only when looking around that I saw the contestants were real! I honestly thought the whole thing was a joke :/

I've watched every episode so far and I'm pretty sure you are correct. I say this mainly because of the "players" reactions to being caught and eaten by the "zombies". They are far too into character with the flailing and screaming to be just ordinary people. I believe it is at least a semi-scripted entertainment show.

On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?

reply

I don't think it's scripted. I'd imagine they're briefed about how to act when they're caught and eaten though.

This is explained in the 'Trivia' section. Once someone has been caught, a special effects team is brought in and the death scene is planned and filmed seperately. So yeah, at this point they are acting. Not in the rest of it though.

Hahaha, this could have been a pretty awesome scripted show.
Especially if written and directed by Charlie Brooker.
Did you happen to see the Zombie drama he wrote that took place in the Big Brother house?
Brilliant.

Dead Set was OK util the last episode- horrible, horrible half-arsed ending. The whole last episode was just terrible.

And anyway, how is that relevant? You are comparing a reality TV show with a drama; with like actors, stunt people, special effects and makeup artists, filming breaks, a script, second takes etc.

You really need to stop comparing this to Dead Set- it's just about as ridiculous as comparing I'm a Celebrity to Crocodile Dundee. They are completely different genres- it's just a pointless argument.

So you basically just wanted a remake of Dead Set? Wow, you literally have no imagination or open mindedness at all do you?

reply

Actually I posted some suggestions that could make this 'reality' show more like Dead Set without it no longer being a reality show.
I'm sorry if that goes beyond what your imagination can comprehend.

Kindly imagine a hysterically witty board signature here.

Wow, it took you three months to think of a reply and when you do is doesn't even make sense!

Of course I get what you are saying, you don't like reality TV and you love zombie dramas, that's painfully obvious.

But what you keep failing to grasp is that this was never intended to be a zombie drama, it was always meant to be a reality TV show. Why would they change the entire point of the show just to please you and your personal tastes?

If you want to watch a zombie drama go type it into you tube, there are literally 100s of things to choose from.

Obviously reality TV isn't your thing, but branding something a failure simply because it didn't fit into a genre that you like is just pathetic.

Not all TV shows are made just for you. If you know you don't like reality TV shows don't watch one and then bitch about how it's rubbish because it's too much like a reality TV show and would be better if it was less like a reality TV show. That just makes you look like a self absorbed idiot.
