So what's with his brother?

First he's basically portrayed as hating his life and wife and living vicariously through his younger brother. Now he doesn't sneak away to partake in shenanigans, and the wife actually joins in them as they BOTH live vicariously through Cooper?

And I understand the camaraderie of roommates, but that little guy with the glasses seems like he makes enough to live on his own, why live with two practically perpetually unemployed people who don't/won't pull their weight on bills?

I don't think the brother hated his wife. He was just bored of their mundane lifestyle. Obviously his wife can get bored too.

Also things change after pilot episodes. Obviously the directors decided to write the wife as a little quirky as well.
