Subtitles

Is this subtitled all the way through or is there an English language version?

I have just watched a teaser trailer for it coming soon to Sky TV, which brought me here

It was portrayed as being English spoken, with an English voiceover and no sign of subtitles, but reading the comments, it looks like it is German with English ST

Time to think of a new tagline

Was this only on Sky tv?? I hope not. Looks really good. I obviously do not have Sky.

reply

It was on Sky Atlantic as a new show in 2016, like they are advertising Man in the High Castle

Made you look :p

It is only broadcast by Sky in Italy, where it airs on Sky Atlantic.

Of Sky's other markets, in Germany and Austria it aired on RTL, and in Ireland on RTE2

In the UK it will air on Channel 4 from January 3rd in their main drama slot of Sundays at 9pm. They are also using it to launch Walter Presents, their new streaming service for foreign language programmes.

Was shown in the US auf Deutsch with difficult to read English subtitles. It made the show a lot of work to watch, but I found it worthwhile.

In Australia, it has just began on the Stan. VSOD network (Video Subscription On Demand) it is being presented in native German language with English spoken in some parts and in context with Nato & US military characters. It has English subtitles (yellow text). As the series is being distributed by Fremantle Media International, I would suggest that this is the version being distributed into English language markets.
That said, it is pretty easy to follow and appears to be very well produced.
I am hooked. It is a good match to the currently runing "The Americans", so if you are enjoying that series, then this series may appeal to you too. Lots of 80's nostalgia runnning through it, although I getting a bit tired of Nina singing '99 Luft Balloons' after viewing only two episodes so far ;-p

reply

Not many things sound sexy in German but Nena singing 99 red balloons sure does.

reply

On Channel 4 in the UK they are showing the US version where the subtitles are in white text (and has American spellings).

reply

Not sure which version was shownn in australia,on stan, but it had white subtitles.

reply

It was written in English, then translated into German for 'foreign atmosphere'. Hence I am sure there will be no English or dubbed version.
