A waste of time [SPOILERS]

I'm really not too rude when I talk about horror movies, because I enjoy them no matter how bad some people review them. I gave this a 4 just because I was genuinely creeped out at some parts while watching this in a dark house late at night. However, there was just no point to all of this! And I don't wanna hear 'well that was the intention, to show that sometimes crazy people have no motive'.
The description before I rented it said something about how the intruder kills all of them without a reason, so I kind of knew what the ending was going to be. It still just felt so unsatisfying. No one put up a fight? At all!? The kids also had a lot of screen time, but they're just conveniently out of the house at the end? I'd give this more respect if they actually went through with having the kids be killed at the end. Then it would have been a little ballsy and risk taking.

THIS! I'm sick of Hollywood being so freaking afraid to off children whether it's in movies like this or even natural disaster movies. It's like they're afraid of the backlash, take the backlash on is my thing. Who gives a crap, they had him kill a harmless teenage boy but the two main kids just miraculously become orphans and live? Bull crap

I wasn't sure if we were meant to think the intruder waited for the kids to return and killed them or if he left because the police were on the way. There's no way he could clear out that elaborate electronic setup in the short time before the police arrived, so the entire ending is pretty unclear.

I thought the film was very creepy simply because of the idea of an intruder hiding in your house is inherently disturbing, but the ending left something to be desired.

Yea it was creepy, I didn't even see him when he was standing in their room in the beginning but I always suspected he was hiding behind that closet door in their bathroom and I ended up being right haha and yea I wish we would've found out what happened to the kids but I don't think he would've even had time to kill them and clean up so *shrugs*

What did you want with the ending then? I'm not arguing but I read that critique about the movie often, how would you have ended it?

reply

I agree that it's decent enough to keep you watching. I decided I would finish it 2/3 through, but it was also at that point that I gave up hope that anything would happen besides the inevitable ending.
