Easily one of the worst films of all time.

I'm not putting this lightly, it is absolutely awful! The dialogue is terribly written and the actors are literally forcing the words to come out of their mouths. The story is lacking... scratch that, THERE IS NO STORY! A woman is on a plane to this one place and then gets kidnapped for a reason that is never really explained and then there are two blind kids for some reason. I honestly thought that actors would do a fourth wall break at the end and tell the audiences this was a joke, a farce they were doing but they didn't, it was just that BAD. Even Michael Shannon couldn't save this train wreck of a movie.

I take it you don't know a damn thing about Herzog films.

Go watch Even Dwarfs Started Small and Heart of Glass. I want to hear you whine like a little girl some more.

first of all, you haven't seen it and don't know what you're talking about, second, it's not a documentary. It's a narrative that's supposed to have a story, it's just incredibly stupid.

Puting aside that Herzog does not draw a distinction between documentaries and fictional films:
Herat of Glass and Even Dwarfs Started Small ARE fictional films.

OK I haven't seen Salt and Fire but I will as soon as I can.
Knowing if you have seen some of Herzog's earlier fictional films is still very important, so that we can put your experience into perspective.

I think the fact alone that he casted Veronika Ferres to play the main character is a joke. I don't know if you're german, but if you are, you probably know what I mean. Seeing her sharing a scene with the great Michael Shannon even made me doubt my sanity for a few seconds.

This! Haha.. I still can't believe this film is real... and that the universe still exists and didn't implode when two alternate realities collided (= one of the best actors shared the screen with one of the worst actresses ever)

Maybe that's actually what the title refers to? With Ferres being the salt in the open wound...
