WOW, WOW, WOW, almost my favourite movie!

No spoilers here. Just watched. Just a couple minutes ago. Under immense impression! So many connections to my life. Some girls reminds me of very important women to me. Surprice after surprise. Confusion at maximum. Beautiful moments, beautiful music, metaphors, symbols, references to destiny/determinism, identity issues through life, been lost in happenings of existence. Only the ending dissapointed me. It shallowed the entire story. For me, completely unnecessary explanation. I would LOVE this movie without that ending. God, what an original, incredible picture for me. WOW, just WOW. I'm gonna rewatch it and read/think/feel about this more and more. Hnghhh. 👏

In fact this film has a lot of haters because the ending explained not well enough, the majority of audience demanded a clearer explanation, which was a shame. Had the director explained better the film would be perfect.

Shunji Iwai is an underrated director.

Agree, a near perfect film until the ending, which was not just a lackluster cop out but also very awkwardly handled. I would have preferred it left a lot more open-ended. The "explaination" took a lot away from the beautiful dreamlike film that preceded it. Could've been 10/10, unfortunately 8/10.

The camerawork was what impressed me the most here. Hard to beat.
