It was made primarily for children. Relax.

I enjoyed this, but to see other thirtysomethings crying on message boards about how they don't like this or that...this is for children and was made in support of a toyline. Please remember who these are made for.

genesisclimber7. You have no idea what you're talking about. This movie fails on every level. Even as kids entertainment. Lol.

Yeah, sure, I guess I don't.

Except that it's a fact that is was made for children.

Doesn't it kind of say something about yourself that you liked something made for ages 5-7? Compared to the other DC releases this surprised people because it was so geared towards young children and so they commented about it. The issue wasn't that it was made for children, it's that people didn't know it was made for children and based entirely on a toy line.

Not sure why you felt the need to act like a butthole and try to personally insult people who were commenting on a movie.

It says that I don't need every DC DVD/BRD release to be an animated version of a comic I've already read. It says I can appreciate that this was fun, and that it was made to be fun, not made to be superawesomedarkandseriousextremebro.

That's my point. Consider what fans like to argue about here.

"This children's cartoon didn't meet my expectations as an adult."

It's sad.

And how would people know that this particular movie was made specifically for kids if people didn't comment on it? It's not like it was obvious that it was based on a toy line instead of the comics, why would people assume it would be different from the dozen or so past movies?

Do you realize how stupid it is to criticize people for discussing a movie, regardless of it's demographic, on a message board? If people had known it was a child's movie beforehand they wouldn't have felt the need to comment to begin with.

"It's not like it was obvious that it was based on a toy line instead of the comics."

Anyone who followed comic book news websites knew that. Anyone who was familiar with DC's Batman Power Attack toys that became the Batman Unlimited toys knew that. Anyone who looked at the box art would know that.

People complained for months on sites like Comic Book Resources "lol dis wuz based on toys it looks teh stupid." That's what is ridiculous here...did people buy this expecting it to look like The Dark Knight Returns??

So in your mind everyone should be reading up on comic book news and paying attention to what toy lines are out? Not everyone goes out and researches every movie before they watch it, I never even saw the box art...I didn't pay to watch this crap I got it online and when I commented this page was almost completely empty of information. I had to go look it up to find out what it was based on after having watched it already.

That's why comment boards exist...so that people don't have to go research or find out after the fact. By reading comments it saves other people a lot of time. Just because you happened to know beforehand doesn't mean everyone else does or should, it is a kids movie afterall like you said, it shouldn't require any extra "work" involved. And it's not like kids are going to read this board so these comments are obviously for other adults.

reply

Had no idea this had a toy line attached to it but it became clear right away the target demo was kids.

And I agree adults who watch this need to appreciate it's simply not for them in the way many other Batman animated projects are.

The guy above arguing with you I think means well in defending people's rights to discuss/bash this but he is missing the point.

reply

My argument isn't about the right to discuss/bash this movie, my point is that without comments pointing out that this was a kids movie a person wouldn't know until they started watching it, which in turn caused them to come to this page to bash it in the first place.

Basically it is the comments pointing out that this is a kids movie that will prevent future posts about it. Make sense?

reply

Good glavin! This is a kids movie! Arguing how "Batman-esque" it is would be like complaining how different Super Friends was from their source material. I loved super friends when i was a kid which eventually led to my appreciation of the more mature versions.

Well you're not very nice now, are you? Calling a total stranger an idiot. Kids these days.

When someone says something idiotic then tend to get called an idiot.

I think you can say the same for the DC movies with profanity and adult situations that are watched by children who think all cartoons are "G" rated. There are parents out there who think the DC universe is kid friendly so they let their children watch it. Movies like Batman Animal Instincts is DC way of getting back to kid friendly shows. Both adult and kid friendly DC universe can exist together.

After I watched the Batman vs Superman movie two days ago, I enjoy watching something much better... this. ^^

To me cartoons are almost always children's stuff (ppl dressed in silly and colourful costumes with ridiculous powers are children stuff to me in any way) but I automatically lower my expectations when watching cartoons or 3D cgi, so I can enjoy most even as thirtysomething too. ^^

Unfortunately that doesn't go for real movies and shows.
