He should have gone with Lily, because it would have been more powerful to have her find love after her experience with Daniel. He said it best after the Christmas party. Something about ... you have now found love so it will make you open to love. That would have been a better ending in my opinion.
shareI loved that Daniel came back for Kate in the end, but, I was expecting him to pass over then Kate to meet someone in her own time that looked like him (played by the same actor).
