Isn't the synopsis given here essentially just the same movie as Red Planet (2000)?

Algae, bugs, all they need is a murderous robot assistant and Val Kilmer and it's the same movie redone, no?

Well, then the synopsis is just bad. It is based on a manga, there is also an anime in its second season. It's just simply gore with an awful bad plot and action about genetically altered humans (humans combined with animals) with a mission to fly to mars to find a cure for a virus which kills all humanity.

Red Planet could be a prequel set 400-500 years before this one...

This movie is way better than Red Planet...
