I was happy they did the Bugs 2 mission, but it just didn't feel right. The action seemed very very weak, very little impact felt when people were killed which was the awesome and shocking part of the manga. The tidal wave of cockroaches was also awful. I honestly fell asleep watching this. Maybe it would have been better to branch off and make their own story here because the Bugs 2 story just didn't work here.
shareI don't think the Bugs 2 plot in itself is bad but the director and writers handled it very poorly. There is a 2 episode ova of the Bugs 2 mission and it is easily superior to this movie version, that isn't hard though. The artistic license the writers and director took easily negatively affected the movie in glaring ways: the tidal wave, the edgelord Dr. Honda, the intro police scene, and other incidences.
Quite frankly it seems to me that the Bugs 2 mission was chosen for the movie due to it being less of a hassle to make than the Annex 1 mission. The basic plot for the 2 missions is the same but the major difference is that Bugs 2 plot has a lot less factions and people to introduce into a single movie.
