Did Adam really shoot Doug?

I do think it's very possible that Adam shot Doug, but I do slightly wonder if Doug would have mentioned that to Nina since he was still alive when she came over and found him.

Also, how fast must that van have got out of there after Adam shot Doug to not be seen or heard by Nina as she ran over?

Doug might not have wanted to mention that Adam shot him because that would cause a huge ripple effect or something, but it just seems Nina (being an agent) should have been able to notice that he didn't shoot himself.

Maybe Doug didn't tell Nina because to tell her that Adam did it would be to admit that he knew about the existence of Adam still being alive...and also potentially implicate himself in the crime of kidnapping TWO boys. It's best for him if he gives as little information as he can about what happened and just blame it on a random stranger...or his girlfriend.

As for the getaway, we don't really know how long it took for Nina to get to Doug after hearing the gunshot. It was probably a lot longer than just a few minutes, given the distance between the cabins and her not really knowing which cabin to run to. She was just going off of her guess on where the sound came from. It would have given them plenty of time to drive away without her hearing the car.

The episode I saw he looked pretty dead.

He might have looked dead at first, but he wasn't dead. He was taken into police custody. Adam shot him in the crotch...Not the heart or anything like that. He lost a lot of blood, but is still alive.

I thought he looked dead and speaking his last words too. That was until I heard Nina talking about prosecuting him to the fullest extent so to speak.

I don't know if you've been in the woods in mountain Country? I did lived in deer and bear country. When a shot rings out it bounces off the mountain, so it would have taken much longer to know which direction the shot came from. City folks. 

If he says Adam shot him, he has to explain why Adam was there, and also reveal that the kid at the Warren house is another kid altogether.

At that point he had Ben refusing to ID him as the kidnapper, and the only one who Clements can identify is Jane. Doug probably told her (and/or she assumed) that it was Jane. And Clements' story about how Jane was worried about him would back up the narrative that she migt've shot Doug to protect him.

When she talked to her partner she said "Jane shot him and escaped" so I don't think he told her anything

Good catch!

GREAT CATCH! I know I needed to rewatch again to hear those little things that I was sure I missed hearing once I could also add in subtitles.
