I didnt watch the show and i dont plan on it, but id still like to know how it ended. Can someone tell me? Was he actually their son?

No he wasn’t actually their son but he had been held captive with the real son so knew enough to impersonate him. The real son also survived and found out the kid was impersonating him and threatened to blow his cover. But then the show got canceled.
