Walking out in the ocean...


...the guy with pants on in the ending of the movie, why did he (name?) do that. Was it only cinematographic or was he suicidable.

It has to do with the story he tells his friend about the time he was lost at the beach, not suicide.

Remember, he told his father on the phone that he was no longer afraid to go to the beach, because of the people he now had around him.

Yeah and it went back to Tomas talking to Bento as well alluding to not being afraid of the cold water after awhile. It was a representation of his "new life" without fear. Was he regretting what happened? Maybe? It's left up to the viewer to decide. But it wasn't like he disappeared under the water and he's seen turning around, splashing, etc. so a suicide isn't how I read it.

I thought the ending was slightly confusing and wish I knew the director's overall intent with it. Yes, he turned around, so one would think no suicide happens.
