Not breaking Continental Rules?

Did John really break Continental rules? Yes, the rule states no business may be conducted on Continental grounds - but the shooting was not "business." It was personal.

I think the rule means more than the simple literal prohibition on fulfilling assassination contracts on Continental grounds. It meant no fighting/killing, so as to preserve order in their sanctuary.

Well, I just answered my own question - Winston stated the first rule is "no blood on Continental Gounds." Hence John is out.
