WTF?? Is Hollywood TRYING to make us the most hated thing in Hollywood?

There is literally NO reason why they couldn't have invested in an original comedy show, with new characters, writers, and producers that were primarily black..INSTEAD of alienating fans of the original film, and putting black people in it because it's the thing to do right now I guess. Do they NOT take into account that this will generate a negative reaction? How about the fact that the original majority demographic that saw the John Hughes film (white people mostly), and liked it, are NOT the demographic they're catering to with this show??? So why even CALL IT Uncle Buck?? That's like making a movie called " Martin " (named after Martin Lawrence ) and casting Michael Cera as Martin, with a full Caucasian cast to boot!!! LOL&SMH!!

The same thing happens in comic books. It's like, just let an artist create a new black/Asian/Indian character, and then invest in it..help them promote that new character, rather than turning The Flash into Asian woman, or Aquaman into African American basketball player..LOL&SMH.

Are people learning nothing from the force feeding of the Ghostbusters 2016? The problem is also just rebooting things for the sake of rebooting, rather than developing and funding NEW ORIGINAL IDEAS.

If it changed the title it wouldn't have been so bad.

Really??? Although unfortunately your comment may be true, a sitcom based on a fictitious movie now with a black family will make people hate us more. How stupid and ignorant of you and those idiots. Either watch or don't watch the show. You prejudiced, xenophobic and privileged folk need to step into 2016. Folk are changing and intelligently stepping away from bigotry and hate to embrace all nationalities and ethnicities and if you don't wake up and get over yourselves, you few left behind waiting on folk like Donald Trump to deliver this "America, that's great" will be still waiting in vain. Get over yourselves smh!

reply

You love your buzzwords don't ya.

Don't whine about bigotry while being a bigot.

reply

First of all, I am not a bigot
I call out folk who are bigoted. I have nothing agaist non-black folk but I do have a problem with those folk (black included) who just hate another because they are different. It's amazing to me that because I replied to such a asinine comment about again a fictitious show based on a fictitious movie being remade with black people makes me a bigot. Ooh I know why because I called a bigot on their bs and then included some "buzzwords" (that you probably believe a black person doesn't even comprehend or know smh) and a dose of truth, I'm a
bigot too. Have a good day and really stop caring about such things as a white movie being remade into a black sitcom when there are realy horrible things going on in our world, even our country!

reply

God, you millennials are the worst. I hate all of you.

reply

Wow you just cannot help yourself can you, you have already made it very clear on many posts that you are utterly racist and already think that only black people watch the show, while spewing pointless bile at any chance, get out more seriously.

reply

Remakes have always happened and always will. There was nothing unique about the Uncle Buck story or character that meant he or the cast had to be white so there was no problem changing it. Most of the time I don't care when they change the race of a character but I'm starting to like it just to see dumbasses get upset about something so stupid, it cracks me up...LOL&SMH!!

Victory is Mine!!!

reply

You got that all right! Why can't people just watch and laugh? And not much funnier than dumbasses getting pissed off! LoL

reply

No, what's dumb is the fact that Hollywood refuses to create and fund new characters and Intellectual properties. I'm sure the newer Annie remake with Jamie Fox had like 1 or 2 funny scenes too...Doesn't mean they couldn't have created a totally different character, with a different name, because I promise you the same amount of people that would have saw it WITH the Annie name, would have seen it without it...which was a mediocre at best amount.

I get it. I'm a Big John Candy fan too. But ask most folks under 25 who he was or about the movie Uncle Buck and they'll go "WHAAT?" and pull out a phone that cost more than my 1st 5 cars....so I just take laughs where I can get them....world's doomed...might as well laugh at it! Ain't No Time to Hate. :~}

reply

It really has nothing to do with race. Nobody could play John Candy in Uncle Buck. I mean don't get me wrong. Michael Epps is not a great actor at all, even when he tries his best, so he was defiantly the worse choice even though there was no choice. Someone posted they should have changed the name and it would have been better. No truer words could have been spoken. I think one of the real problems today is forced diversity.

I don't think Hollywood is out of ideas. The people working Hollywood now are out of ideas. Maybe it's time for some new talent. Not necessarily younger talent, but newer.

In Thor Ragnarock, they're making the quintessential Celtic/Nordic beauty into a black woman too. That's like making Shaka Zulu white.

reply

Not really since a majority of the characters are already white
I'm Blade brown, the Dopest, illest, hypest brotha, on the block!

reply

And there you just showed your own retarded racism. Valkyrie IS the Nordic / Celtic epitome of the blonde haired blue eyed beautiful warrior. It is something cultural. But 'Oh dere be plenty o whites in dis here balkanahzed money pah, right dawg?' They already made heimdahl black, making Valkyrie black is a deliberate insult.

reply

"In Thor Ragnarock, they're making the quintessential Celtic/Nordic beauty into a black woman too. That's like making Shaka Zulu white."

That's the biggest load of bull$hit I've seen in a long time.

Um.. you do realize that Shaka Zulu was the real life Monarch of the Zulu Kingdom, an empire which ruled a large part of southern Africa including present day South Africa during Shaka's reign 1816-1828, while a Valkyrie is a mythical figure that delivered warriors killed in battle to either Valhalla or Fólkvangr, right?

So to make a false equivalence between changes made to a real life historical figure and a mythological figure is silly at best.

Ah.. you also realize that the Valkyrie's aren't the quintessential Celtic/Nordic beauty considering the Valkyrie's were originally viewed as "demons of the dead to whom warriors slain on the battlefield belonged", before a shift in interpretation of the valkyries occurred "when the concept of Valhalla changed from a battlefield to a warrior's paradise", right?

This looks better than black karate kid so there is that.

reply

The only thing wrong with " black Karate Kid " was the fact that it was called Karate Kid in the first place. It should of been called " Kung-Fu Kid ". But they were trying to capitalize off the name, which is what Hollywood does...That is the only similarity with this Uncle Buck thing from what I see.

* gun shot * "...What is the *beep* number..TO THE PHONE IN MY CAR!!!? "

reply

They should call it Crappy Kid because that movie was crappy. black annie was horrible too. Though I have to give compliments to The Wiz, that was one good Black remake I know of I can willingly watch.

reply

Ha, fair enough. Karate Kid wasn't that great, but I think you get the point. It shouldn't have been associated with that franchise at all. The Wiz is definitely a rare exception.

Blacks watch a lot of television, sometimes twice as much as the average boob-tube-addicted white viewer. Empire was a smash hit for FOX and the other networks are taking note. More black shows, more KFC commercials. Business is business.

reply

Ha! I realize there's some troll to your comment, but they're not doing anymore business with black people by calling it Uncle Buck, than they would if they called it Uncle Kareem. And they eliminate the outrage of all those Uncle Buck and remake hating fans out there. That's the point.

* gun shot * "...What is the *beep* number..TO THE PHONE IN MY CAR!!!? "

reply

Not sure why they remade it because the original was mediocre at best. That said, the plot is so generic that they could have just made it a show about a hapless uncle and his well off family and called it something else. I think that by making it a remake the racists are gonna get up in arms.

Now, as a black person, I don't give a damn if they remade Martin or Fresh Prince or any shows and used an all white cast or mixed cast or whatever. The reason is these are fake people. Now, a show about a real person that changes the race, yes I would have a problem. I don't want to see a black George Bush or a white Harriet Tubman. Otherwise, I could care less.

reply

Well you're entitled to your opinion bruh, but remaking something like Martin, Fresh Prince or freakin Seinfeld with a totally opposite race cast is ridiculously bad idea imo. Those people essentially ARE those characters ( Especially Will Smith and Jerry Seinfeld ). Those shows would not/ COULD not have existed without them. So to remake them at all, let alone recast them with an alternative race cast...is like blasphemy lol..and also shows a lack of ability to develop something new without COMPLETELY copying everything from the past.
