CONFESSION: I wanted to see Allison and Amy fall in love

...with each-other!

I thought that Amy was such a super cheer-leader and she REALLY cared for Allison. If she was an angel, then, that's to be expected I suppose. But, I felt some other kind of love too---or maybe it was wishful thinking.

In any case, it would have been exceptionally romantic to see an angel (esp. when it's a female angel!) fall in love with their person, like something right out of that 1999 Meg Ryan/Nicholas Cage film, but without the tragedy.

Such a golden opportunity missed! I REALLY, REALLY wanted to see them fall in love! Darn you, stupid CBS! Darn you!

I think they meant to say she looked 65.

The two characters were never on that path, so why would you think that would happen? I have nothing against two women or two men being in love and marrying, but Amy is either crazy or really an angel, and Allison has never shown any interest in women. It just doesn't make sense.

So, you think that angels and crazy people can't fall in love? They have in many stories before, so no reason why this show couldn't go down that path. And just because Allison has never shown any interest in women that we could see, doesn't mean she hasn't thought about it or that she wouldn't feel it at some point.

Same sex relationships are often begun with one of the people new to it. Just look at Anne Heche, or even Sarah Paulson---who admitted that she only ever dated men until she got with her first girlfriend a few years back---and she's in her 40s! So, to say that the possibility of it happening "doesn't make any sense", is not very sensible in and of itself---because after only five episodes, the possibility of them falling in love eventually does make just as much sense as the possibility of them not falling in love.

Also, to say that the two characters were "never on that path" is to dismiss the fact that paths (and TV scripts) can and do change---all the time. Ditto relationships. So, why would I think it would happen on this show? Because it could! And because I wanted it to, just as the subject-line stated.

What statistics do you have where you say "Most same sex relationships start with one being new to it"??? Those are only a small group, and usually what is shown in TV or movies. In reality, both parties are aware of their sexuality than portrayed in the media.

But, I didn't say that "most" started that way. I just said it often happens, which it does---it just doesn't typically last.

Here's an excerpt from an article that basically says what I was saying:

It’s always dangerous to project an actor’s biography onto the characters she’s hired to play, but Lynch often wears her lesbianism in sneakily subversive ways. Take, for example, the second episode of Angel From Hell, when in Amy’s desire to connect with Allison, she tries to wangle an invitation to Allison’s home, to get her to go to a bar with her, and most of all to meet her family—something Allison is determined to avoid. It’s hard not to notice that these are classic stages in a lesbian’s courtship of a woman who has heretofore identified as straight.

So, I guess that my desire to see them fall in-love was not out of the realm of possibility after all. At least I'm not the only one who got those vibes!

Adding to the topic, I'd just like to say that I have read a few people comment how they hope that Amy is really Allison's mom or that they hope Amy and Allison's dad get together---to which Jane Lynch, in response to a Twitter fan, said it was a good idea. But ewww!

It would just be so lackluster and underwhelming if it ended up with Amy in a relationship with Allison's dad, because a] it's just a lame conventional idea. There was no feelings between them, so only convention could be inspiring this idea, and b] it would make the relationship between Allison and Amy as secondary, which would undermine the point of the show! The relationship between Allison and Amy is the show!

As for Amy revealing herself to be Allison's mother in some form, again, that would take so much of the fun out of the show! Why should Amy need a boring reason like that to latch herself onto Allison? Isn't the possibility of love-at-first-sight---especially between an angel and their human--- MUCH MORE exciting?!

I just don't get the people who didn't want that! It's like they wanted to turn the show into THE NANNY! Disappointed in Jane for liking the fan's idea too! Ugh! Fact is, this show revolves around two main people---Amy and Allison. Allison is the subdued one, Amy is the dominant. They balance each-other perfectly and would have made a very sweet couple.

And to those of you who might want to pop in and say that it would be weird because Amy first knew Allison as a little girl, well, so did Celine Dion's late husband, more or less, and they were a very in-love pair! So, think about that!

If Amy was going to be in a physical/sexual relationship with anyone, I think it would be great to see Allison's brother and Amy. He is so drawn to her when she is near him that he just starts flirting with her. I liked this show a lot, and would have loved to see much more of it. I am up for any non conventional aspects, which the show had already going for it. Perhaps it is that people were put off by "religion" - but I am an atheist and I was (and still am) rooting for the show - angel or not! This was one of the first shows that had me laugh aloud in a while, and it bummed me out when it was cancelled so abruptly.

Now, that's an idea I like! Even though I'd still like to see romance between Amy and Allison, I'm totally on board with this possibility too. And somehow, I don't think a relationship between Amy and the brother would threaten the focus of the story like one between Amy and the dad would. So, I'll go for that.
