This was cancelled due to low ratings not controversy

I don't know why people are on here saying this was cancelled due to controversy, it wasn't. As every news source reported about the cancellation, it was cancelled because the ratings were too low (lower than 2 Broke Girls had in the same time slot which it was replacing and which will be replacing it back). 1.4 is too few of viewers, especially for a show with poor reviews and showing no signs of improvement. If anything the controversy probably added viewers who were curious what the fuss was all about (which usually happens to TV shows when someone complains about the content). This was a poorly written show that didn't know where it was going. It was on a short leash from the beginning. They probably should have used the other similar, better-written scripts that were floating around Hollywood at the same time instead.

I think they're saying that because the ratings weren't THAT bad, and CBS pulled it from the schedule in favor of reruns instead of just running the episodes until they were over. Could be that CBS has high standards, but then, they renewed The Odd Couple and Life in Pieces, both of which are only getting marginally higher ratings due to being at 8:30 after TBBT.

I agree it probably wasn't cancelled due to controversy, but it's weird. CBS has tons of bad sit-coms. Most of their sit-coms are bad.

I don't know why people are on here saying this was cancelled due to controversy, it wasn't.

But, it was cancelled due to controversy. The ratings were not bad enough for cancellation and the organization/conservative group ONE MILLION MOMS were on their website actually bragging about how they victoriously got it cancelled by convincing several sponsors to drop the show. They were bragging, in detail, about the steps they took for their "victory".

So, why do we say it was cancelled due to controversy and not ratings? Because it was! And if the reports aren't saying that now, maybe it's because CBS wants to save face and not own up to being spineless.

By the way, their next target is Lucifer.

Wonder what they think of It's a Wonderful Life and Damn Yankees.

Wrong again, skin puppet.

You fuzz fetchers are about as big of a joke as One Million Moms. If you actually believe that Angel From Hell was cancelled due to group of menopausal nobodies who actually think they have some sort of say in what stays and what doesn't stay on tv, then I would like to borrow some of your disability check this month.

Wrong again, huh? Yeah, coming from you, that means nothing considering how wrong you were here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4424726/board/nest/253416745?d=253419308#253419308

So, if anyone's "wrong again"---it's you!

droidx, do you ever tell people how they're wrong, or just tell them they are wrong and call them supposedly humorous names?

FINALLY! Someone who gets it.

Why are you so nasty? Do you enjoy putting down people who are less fortunate than you are? People with mindsets like yours bother me. I guess it's easier to call people names than to present a thoughtful, well written comment. btw, I'm disabled and unable to walk. Before my accident I was a trauma nurse and probably did more for people than you ever will think about helping. Does this make me a nobody? Shame on you. Keep your hatred of the less fortunate to yourself.

So.... what were they protesting Angel from Hell for? And I don't see why they'd go after Lucifer next. I doubt they've even bothered to watch either show, it just so happens they use words that are in some form symbolic to religions, particularly Christians. I happen to be a Christian myself, and I watch(ed) both of these shows, and dont find anything about either of them offensive. I can take a joke. Its tv, Its not reality. I know Angels arent on earth living on peoples garages or that Lucifer is helping a cop solve crimes (very Sleepy Hollow to me btw). What gives? Leave these shows alone Million Moms. Find another vendetta.

Up againest Big Bang Theory and didnt give it time to catch on. What a shame, really loved it.
What show could?

The best thing you can do for the show right now is sign this petition: https://www.change.org/p/lets-get-angel-from-hell-back-on-tv

There are several networks being alerted about it and a big campaign to save it is in the works. It all starts with signatures though.

I think what really doomed it was that after a couple of episodes, it was pretty obvious to the viewer that the audience would always be left hanging about the real nature of Amy; was she an angel and if so, good or bad, or was she a stalker or a time traveler? Without revealing that to the audience, the show limited itself to what it could do. No miracles allowed.

It's sad that Americans need instant gratification, but that's just what you need to provide if you want a successful TV show.

Yeah, One Million Moms targeting any show is a lecherous curse that doesn't really go away until they get what they want. I think the network gets annoyed by their complaints and eventually gives in, especially when the hate campaign so negatively destroys viewership. What we should be more concerned about is how to shut down One Million Moms for good.

The fact of the matter is, Angel from Hell lost too much of its lead-in viewership (Mom), and consistently dropped on a weekly basis in ratings. so it got pulled from the schedule. Since single-cam shows cost more to make, it was probably a financial move on the network's part, not to mention single-cam comedies aren't in alignment with their multi-cam workhorse model. I'm surprised Life in Pieces has managed to do so well, but moving the show to Mondays next season as a replacement for Mike & Molly's cancellation will probably only give it another season at most.

It's a shame when you consider the sheer terribleness of 2 Broke Girls--It's an utter filth fest. And not funny anymore. Angel from Hell might not have been the best comedy on the air, but it was still enjoyable to watch because of how different it was from its competitors.

One million moms had this show cancelled.

It's bulls**t this show was cancelled! I enjoyed this show ALOT! Damnit another show taken off the air too soon all because there wasn't enough viewers I love Jane Lynch and Maggie Lawson.

reply

they barely gae the show a chance or marketing, i found out by accident, and its a great show for the older crowd but of course thats not the prime watchers between 18 and 49 so screw them right. Some shows actually need people to know about them first and more than 2 episodes before they decide to can it. Its a fun show and Jane Lynch is still a great draw.

hell they gave supergirl everything they had and that show was terribly written and not even picked up by its own channel, but they sure publicised the crap out of it.

its no wonder netflix, amazon etc are making their own shows, they seem to be trying to let a series shake itself out a bit before scrapping it for reruns, reality shows or any crap that counts as cheap.
